What is an Iced Matcha Latte?

 Introduction

An matcha latte is a refreshing drink made by combining matcha, a powdered green tea, with milk. This beverage is popular for its vibrant green color, creamy texture, and the health benefits it provides, such as a sustained energy boost and rich antioxidants.

Step-by-Step Recipe for Making an Iced Matcha Latte

Ingredients:

- 4 grams of high-quality matcha powder (about 2 teaspoon)

- 40 mL of hot but not boiling water  ( around 70 degrees

- 150 mL of milk of your choice (we reccomend oatmilk)

- Sweetener of choice (honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup), to taste

Equipment:

- Matcha Bowl

- Chasen (bamboo whisk) or electric milk frother

- Chashaku (bamboo scoop) or teaspoon

- Fine sieve

- Measuring cup

Instructions:

1.Prepare Your Equipment:

Soften your whisk by placing it in a cup of warm water      for a few minutes to prevent the bamboo tines from             breaking.

2. Sift the Matcha:

   - Sift the  4grams or 2 teaspoons matcha powder into mixing bowl using a fine sieve to ensure a smoother, lump-free tea.

4. Add Water:

   - Pour 40 mls of warm but not boiling water into the mixing bowl. ( Water around 70 degrees)

5. Whisk the Matcha:

   - Hold the Chawan with one hand and the Chasen with the other. Whisk the matcha briskly in a W or M motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and a light froth forms on the surface. This should take about 15 seconds.

6. Combine with Milk:

   - warm and or texturise 150 ml of your  milk

   - Add the wwamred milk into the bowl containing the matcha mixture.

7. Sweeten to Taste:

   - Add your preferred sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or simple syrup) to taste. Stir well to combine.

8.*Serve and Enjoy:

   - Once everything is well-mixed, your matcha latte is ready to enjoy. Sip slowly to savor the refreshing blend of matcha and creamy milk.

By following these steps, you can create a delicious  matcha latte that captures the essence of traditional Japanese matcha while offering a modern, refreshing twist. This recipe is inspired by the techniques used at high-end matcha tea houses, ensuring an authentic and high-quality drink.
